Golden Retriever Needlepoint Kit

We started a great collation of dog needlepoint canvas designs about a year ago, and I just wanted to show off a photo of a golden retriever needlepoint canvas we made last week!

The design is available on our website (click the link above), or if you would like to needlepoint a photo of your dog, try our custom neeedlepoint designer on our website!  www.NeedlePaint.com

I always suggest trying to stay below 20 color if possible and making the widest dimension at least around 12 inches wide, and if you’re having trouble getting the design to come out how you would like it, email us the photo, and we’d be happy to help!

Sorry the photo does not show the background dark green as well as it looks in person, but taking pictures while making orders does mean I kinda have to rush to finish in time to ship  🙂

If you have any needlepoint design ideas you’d like to stich, but can’t find anywhere, please get in touch with us, we’d be happy to help.

Dress up Your Old Straw Hat — Add a Needlepoint Hat Band

Tired of your old straw hat? When I went looking for a new straw visor there were none to be found.

Inspired by a book I was reading on Hawaiian tattoos, I designed a hat band of a traditional shark tooth design. It is a perfect design for Trianglepiont, which is quick and easy to to.  I mocked up a custom needlepoint design and was stitching 2 days later!

Each shark tooth is a trianglepoint and  satin stitch is used between the triangles. I finished the ends of the canvas with the reversed mosaic stitch as shown here.

There is a single row of the Continental stitch along each end to serve as the border for the finished overcast edge, which is described in my Needlepoint Napkin Rings blog. For the backing, I used wide bias tape which had to be trimmed down to the 1.25 inch width of this hat band.

I tacked the band to my old visor so it can be removed easily and exchange for my next project — an Hawaiian flower band which is on the stretcher waiting to be stitched.

Needlepoint Photo Portraits

Stitchers are always looking for fun new projects, and boy do we have great ideas!

This week, I want to show off some of the photo needlepoint portraits that we’ve made recently.

You can see three of the canvases on our workshop table.

Photo Needlepoint Portraits and Other Fun Projects!

Photo Needlepoint Portraits and Other Fun Projects!

There is one important thing if you are creating a photo needlepoint project that these three have in common.  This is that each of these is a close up of a single face or upper body.  This allows you to really catch the detail of the subject and not worry about the background.  In some cases, you can get two people to come out as well as these, but most often a single subject is the best.

If you want help taking your photo to needlepoint, you can try our website NeedlePaint.com and see the preview of your custom needlepoint canvas for free!

If you don’t like how the colors are coming out, or want help cropping or editing your photo, or even want help starting from scratch, you can contact us directly, and we’d be happy to assist.

Also note, we match every kit that is a portrait (both human and animal) to the photo.  So, if the colors seem a little off, don’t worry, we’ll adjust them.  Computers are great tools, but still no substitute for the human eye!

Summer Fun Custom Needlepoint Hat Bands!

Peggy has been looking for projects to start this summer and decided to design some hat bands.

Two of these designs are inspired by Hawaiian tattoos and the other is a fun floral pattern.

She mentioned she designed the red one to do with triangle stitches, so stay tuned, I think she is going to work her magic!

They are 23 inches wide and if you are interested they run $45 per design, or $115 for all three!

These make fast fun summer stitching, so if you are interested in a custom needlepoint hat band, feel free to get in touch with your ideas and we’ll help create your own needlepoint design.

Bird Hunting Custom Needlepoint Belt

We had a request to modify our whiskey and gunpowder needlepoint belt for a bird hunter, and it came out so well, I had to put it in the shop!

The Bird Hunting Needlepoint Belt includes: diamond shape monogram, a shotgun (this one is a baretta), a pheasant, quail, dove, a black and white english setter, and a shotgun shell.

Not all people hunt the same birds, so if you want a custom needlepoint design, you can enter the changes in the notes field of your order.  We will email you a preview of your belt before we make it.

What kind of needlepoint belt do you want to stitch?

Beautifully Stitched Kids Needlepoint Belt

One of our customers recently shared with us some fantastic pictures a needlepoint belt we designed with her and that she stitched for her son.

Really this post is all about the pictures she took and the great colors.  She went to the store to hand pick the colors and really took the design to a new level.  (you can see the original colors on our Needlepoint Belt Design’s Post)  Great work Sloan!

Preppy Gingham Custom Dog Needlepoint Belt Design

I was at a wedding last week in Nantucket, and after going shopping and looking for ideas for needlepoint belts, I came across a lot of gingham patterns in the shops.

This idea had been lingering in the back of my mind, so when a customer wanted a poodle needlepoint belt, I decided to put in the time and make it happen.  While this is not the design that was right for the person she is making it for, she loved it and may order it for her husband!

This needlepoint design will be customized to order.  We can change the color, dog breed, and monogram.  To see pricing click the following link for the custom preppy dog gingham needlepoint belt canvas.  And contact us directly for finished custom belt pricing.

All About Photo Needlepoint Kits Dogs N Cat

If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you know how much we love our pets!

NeedlePaint probably has the best looking custom needlepoint kits for working needlepoint from photo.

Have a look at our workshop table last Friday (see below) these are some fun projects!

Our kits come with either Waverly wool or DMC floss, hand made and matched to your pet.  Or if you prefer matching your own colors or working in a different fiber, our needlepoint canvases still come with a counted stitch guide and color chart matched to one of the two fiber options.  I suggest using the DMC color palate if you are buying your own fiber, as there are many free color conversion charts available online.

If you would like to see needlepoint dog breeds, we have some favorites on the website.  Or, if you prefer to stitch your own pet, you can needlepoint a photo using our online designer.  You can customize the design size, mesh count, number of colors and fiber type with the click of a button!  There is no fee to try out needlepoint designer so why not give it a try!

***If you are looking to stitch a graphic illustration, poem, or name, please contact us, our website is optimized for photos, but we can manually adjust your design so it comes out looking sharp.
