Cave Canem Mosaic Needlepoint Pillow Canvas

"Beware of the Dog!" "Cave Canem from the House of the Tragic Poet", was a mosaic placed on the left of the doorway as one entered the home. The words Cave Canem (beware of the dog) was a message for the arriving visitor. Mosaics were a common feature in the private homes and public buildings of ancient Rome. Peggy has designed this pillow based on the original mosaics that she saw while walking through ancient Rome and Pompeii. A fabulous project to stitch!
